Hi-Alloy Castings is a Benoni based foundry specializing in the casting and manufacture of parts various industries.
They provide ferrous castings and associated products into a wide range of engineering, mining and industrial applications. Products include casting of pumps, crushing and milling liners, these include Brick manufacture and Shot Blasting, parts for the mining industry, namely pumping, crushing, cyclone separation and other custom parts required by the customer.
Overview of Services:
Design: Our expert designers and metallurgists work with you to design the best product using the correct materials. All consultation is done in house and accurate simulations can be made up with our state of the art software
Patternmaking: Hi-Alloy Castings have a large, traditional pattern shop specialising in patterns for the mining and engineering sectors inclusive of prototypes or one-offs. Our in-house pattern shop allows the foundry to efficiently make pattern alterations and repairs with minimal interruptions to production. New patterns equipment projects are done in-house to maintain full control of quality and costs
Moulding and Casting: We have two separate moulding lines, allowing us the flexibility to execute any urgent requirements our clients may have. This also gives us the ability to offer a product range from 1kg to 1000kg
Heat Treatment: We have five gas heat treatment furnaces which run 24 hours. Stringent quality checks are done to ensure that hardness and other specifications are carefully met.
Fettling: When the castings temperature have dropped to the required standard, they are knocked out and fettled to the final product
Materials
The foundry has the unique advantage in that it has produced and manufactured the range of BS4844 grades of chrome iron. Not being content to manufacture the regular chrome irons a product was developed and aptly named "BLUE DIAMOND".
This alloy has gained international recognition as a premium wear resistant product.
Besides the Chrome Irons, the Foundry has earned a reputation for producing high grade Duplex and low carbon stainless steels. The foundry also endeavours to produce non-standard typically imported materials for customers, provided the required quantities justify the production. The foundry produces the full range of wet end products for the major South African and foreign markets.
